Phase 1 of the enrichment project is currently underway; each district is designed to complement the surrounding parks, ports and museums, to ensure each is given an appropriate landmark and connection to Deira’s heritage.

The Heritage Trails

Dubai Municipality has launched an initiative to preserve Deira’s cultural identity while enhancing its appeal to investors and tourists alike; in doing so, the area now has 3 heritage trails totaling 1,748 meters across Deira’s iconic markets.

They span the Gold Souq, Spice Souq, and Al Ahmadiya School Areas; offering visitors a culturally immersive experience through restored facades, refurbished walkways, and shaded areas that accompany 500 retail stores.

Dubai Creek Restoration

This is a project that is currently underway to restore the historic creek. The project includes upgrading docking facilities, rebuilding damaged sections of the retaining walls, and installing 200 anchors for a more secure navigating experience. Furthermore, the new walls are designed to reach a depth of 8 meters and a height of 3 meters.
